Salute to Grads
March 6-7, 2018
11am - 6pm
Salute to Grads is similar to the involvement fairs or job fairs held on campus. It gives graduating students an opportunity to make arrangements for all their needs before graduation. The event is held in March for the spring graduation and October for the winter graduation.
Salute to Grads provides an opportunity for you to order your cap and gown, personalized invitations and thank you cards, diploma frames, and class rings. A photographer is also available to take your photo in full graduation regalia, which is provided for the photoshoot.
There will be representatives from the following campus offices: the Registrars Office, Financial Services (loan repayment and paperwork to get your $100 deposit back), Career Services and Alumni Center, and the University Bookstore (cap and gowns).
Cap and Gown Ordering Information
Students choosing to participate in the ceremony must wear an approved cap and gown. Students may place cap and gown orders through the University Bookstore at the Salute to Grads event, online, or in person at the store. Payment is due at the time of ordering. Graduation regalia CANNOT be charged to your Student Bill.
Undergraduate Degree regalia includes a black mortar board cap and gown, and a colored tassel which represents your area of study.
Graduate Degree regalia includes a black cap, tassel and a Masters gown with a hood. The hood's velvet represents your area of study and the purple and white satin insert represents UW-Whitewater.
Honor Cords are only given to undergraduate students. If you are eligible for an honor cord, you may purchase it at the Bookstore. Qualified graduates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 before the semester of graduation and at least 48 credits taken at UW-Whitewater. The Bookstore will have a list of graduates who qualify to walk with honors.
International Sashes are available if you studied abroad or are affiliated with another country. The international sash is made of satin fabric in the color of the country's flag, and is draped over your graduation attire. Multi-country sashes are also available.
You can pick up your cap and gown from the University Bookstore starting the Monday before graduation. Please present your ID.
